¿Qué
es la vida? Un frenesí.
¿Qué es la vida? Una ilusión,
una sombra, una ficción,
y el mayor bien es pequeño:
que toda la vida es sueño,
y los sueños, sueños son.
My
family
My sister, Isabel, was born one year
and 16 days after I was. She is an artist, she loves music, opera,
plants and above all, she loves her family and friends.
She sings and
teaches music to children.
Here
you can
visit my
sister's webpage.
My mother, Amparo, is very active. She loves to travel and to do sport.
She teaches in a secondary school.
My father, Luis, was also a very
active person. He loved his family and friends and always helped people
when he could. He also liked to travel, thus when my sister and me were
younger, we traveled a lot alltogether.
My father's family
Here you can see my grandmother,
Gertrudis, with my sister and me. My grandmother's paellas are delicious. She had
three sons: Luis (my
father), Toni and Eladio. Toni lives in
Landete (which is a small town in Cuenca), where we used to go years
ago for holydays or for the weekend.
My grandmother lives
in Paterna, a small town near Valencia. I didn't know to my
grandfather. My uncle Eladio and his family: his wife Mari Carmen, and
my cousins Jorge and Mari Carmen, live also in Paterna, close to my
grandmother.
My
mother's family
The family of my mother longer to
present. My granparents, Isabel and Fernando, had eight children: three
boys (Fernando, Manolo and Nacho), and five girls (Maribel, Tere, Pili,
Marimar and Amparo, my mother). All my uncles were married and have
children, thus you can imagine that the familiar meetings are quite
noisy. Most of them live in Alicante, only Marimar and her family lived
in Valencia some years, but later they moved. Currently also she is in
Alicante. Maribel and her family have always lived in Cartagena (south
Alicante).
When we were children, we usually
were hosted at my uncle Tere's house.
They lived close to my uncle Pili, thus my sister and I were more in
contact with their children: Teresa, Jesús, José Ingacio
and Pablo. Teresa and Jesús were born in the same year than me,
and the others were a bit younger. Things weren't always easy, I
remember a lot of fights between Pablo and José Ignacio. Pablo
has always been quite bad :-)
Now we are all very different from
the others, but at least three or
even four of these children have become artists: my sister,
Jesús, Pablo and probably also José Ignacio. Maths and
art are not contrary things.
You can see some of the things that Jesús does in these links:
We used to go a couple of weeks to
Guardamar in summer. There, my
grandparents, my uncles Maribel and Guillermo, and Manolo and Marian
had houses near the beach. It used to be a great time, where we
met more cousins. We were hosted at my grandparents' house, close to
the beach, where we coincided also with my uncles Marimar and Fernando,
and their sons Marimar and Fernando (yes, same name!). At my uncle
Maribel's house we could find my cousins Guille, Nacho, Fernando and
Maribelita (note how many Fernandos are in this family!). That house
was always a chaos. They were the older cousins in Guardamar (at least
Guille, Nacho and Fernando), and they were in Guardamar almost the
whole summer, thus they knew more people, more children, more places,
etc. At their house, sometimes there were also their cousins Boti and
Ana with their parents. Finally, my cousins Estrella, Manuel and later
Keka (sorry, Ángela) where in their house with their parents
Manolo and Marian.
My uncle Nacho and Clara live in the
mountains between Alicante and
Valencia. My sister is very close to them, and visits them at least
once a year. They have a number of children! Nachito is the older son
of my uncle Nacho, but later came David, Fernando, Jorge, Clara and
Elena. And finally, my cousins David and Eva are sons of my uncle
Fernando.
Friends
And what about my friends? Well, I
admit that I'm not a good friend, but they are, and I want to mention
them at this corner.
Los rapi, Carlos,
Ati, Félix, David, Sospe, Bea, Guillem, Linu, Rebeca, Tomas,
Fede, Guaiass, Rubio, Rosa, Esteban, Pedro, Navas... And some of them,
together
with Richie,
are Desayuno.
Here you can enjoy Transparentes, one of the songs in
their last CD. If you liked it, visit their website!
Bea, David and Guaiass
Félix when he came to Udine. We also visited Venezia
During my years in
Italy I knew some people who slowly became my friends. It was first
Carla, then Marco but there were also Luca, Pina and Stefania.
Carla shared the office
with me from the very beginning. I shared with her many trips, each one
becoming an adventure.

Marco was
(and is) a great friend. We've shared a lot of good (and bad) things.
Good things such as food!
Here is Luca the day of the PhD
defense. That day there were all my friends in Italy, and also my
mother:

More photos of
(with) some of my friends, people with which I've shared great days.
This is not an exhaustive show!
And finally, Raúl
Hobbies
I've always been interested in
sports. When I was a child, I started to play basketball at the school.
Then, when I finished the school, I played in the DI-MAR club. Nowadays
I just play from time to time in the playground with some friends.
However, I'm a fan of the city team: Pamesa Valencia.
My friend Ati did this caricature for me:
Also my mother likes basketball and
is fan of the same team. Here you can see here in Lyon, when our team
played the final of the Uleb Cup agains Siena (unfortunately we lost)

When I was in Italy, I went sometimes
to watch the Treviso team, and that became my second team. It was not
my fault, I went when they were playing the most beautiful and
incredible play I've ever seen. It was the year when D'Antony was the
coach, and there was also Garbajosa, who was undervalued in Spain, but
already a great player.
Players made all us happy these days. They reached the final of the
cup, and no one expected that.

Finally, even if the photo is not a
good photo, let me show it. When Treviso came to Valencia, my friend
Miguel (which is a bit crazy) and me dreamed with a photo: a team photo
with Garbajosa, Pittis and Bulleri.
It was not only basketball in my life. I also played during some years
to rugby in the university team. It was hard, but also funny and people
were fantastic.
